Heating Oil Price Trend for October 21: +6¢
Oil prices bounced back with some force at the NYMEX on Wednesday, recovering most of the ground lost on Tuesday. Wednesday’s rally began with a sinking US dollar, which always supports prices because it makes oil a cheaper investment for investors using foreign currency. But the big price increases followed the weekly report on US petroleum inventories released by the Energy Information Administration released late Wednesday morning. The report showed an increase in crude and gasoline stockpiles, but a 2.2-million-barrel decrease in distillate (a category that includes heating oil, road diesel, and jet fuel) inventories. Traders honed in on this bit of data, interpreting it as a sign of returning oil demand and a possible acceleration of economic recovery. The resulting gains in crude and heating oil prices at the NYMEX brought a significant increase in retail heating oil prices on Thursday. However, market prices were on the decline on Thursday morning in response to negative unemployment data.
Today’s average retail heating oil price in the Northeast is 6 cents higher per gallon than Wednesday’s average price.

How to get help with your Clean Burn furnace or boiler
As we gear up for the heating season, you may start thinking about having your Clean Burn heater cleaned to ensure it is in prime operation condition. You may call Eco Heating Systems toll free at 1-866-888-1103 to schedule a Periodic Maintenance appointment. It is important that you have your Clean Burn serviced at least once each year.
When it gets cold, please be assured that Eco Heating Systems is here to serve you. Our office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday thru Friday, September thru March.
Some of the most common problems with your waste oil heater can include:
1) Running out of oil - It is very important that you maintain the proper amount of waste oil in your tank during the heating season! Running out of oil is the #1 service problem we encounter.
2) Check for contaminants in the oil - Contaminants in your oil supply will prevent your burner from firing, and could cause major damage to your furnace or boiler.
3) Do not turn off the power to your furnace - Turning off the power to your furnace will cause the preheater block to cool down. If you need to turn down your heat, simply turn down the thermostat until the heat shuts off.
4) Examine and reset primary control - be sure your cad cell wires and jumper wire are properly connected. (see your operators manual) To reset the primary control, press the big red button and hold for 3 seconds, then release.
Our service call procedure is as follows:
1) Customer talks to EHS customer service department. Customer service agent will attempt to identify the problem over the phone. If this is unsuccessful, we will email or fax the customer a basic Troubleshooting Guide which covers the most common problems that could occur with your waste oil heater.
2) If the customer is unable to resolve the issue using the Troubleshooting checklist, we will have a service technician speak to the customer over the phone to attempt to identify the problem
3) A service appointment will be scheduled for Eco Heating Systems to visit your location to resolve your service problem.

The Clean Burn Advantage
The Clean Burn Advantage
- Clean Burn is the market leader with over 50% of the market. In fact, more customers invest in Clean Burns than all other waste oil furnaces combined.
- Clean Burn products are UL Listed and EPA approved – It is illegal in many states to burn waste oil in a furnace that is not UL Listed. There are several newcomers to the business that do not have these important certifications.
- Clean Burn furnaces are the only furnaces on the market that are truly designed to burn waste oil. Many competitive furnaces are converted fuel oil systems. This means that the Clean Burn furnace will be more reliable, more economical to run, and will give you a longer lifespan. In addition, it has been designed to be user friendly and easy to maintain.
- The Clean Burn metering pump uses a Bison gear motor with a capacitor start so that the pump can accurately deliver used oil to the burner at temperatures down to 0 degrees F. Clean Burn can use outside oil tanks and operate under very cold conditions. Many competitive systems use pumps which must be maintained above 50 degrees to operate properly and require inside used oil tanks.
- Clean Burn furnaces outweigh the competition–more steel is required to build a true waste oil furnace. Our furnaces have a true heat exchanger–not a blast tube design that sends much of the heat up the stack.
- Clean Burn will only sell furnaces with competent installation and service support. Eco Heating Systems personnel have been installing and servicing Clean Burn furnaces for over 20 years. We have fully staffed and stocked installation and service vehicles, and are ready to assist you with your needs.
